The Fauconberg Arms

We set off on Mother's day for a drive and to find somewhere for lunch. I took the TR6 with Isabelle and Niki took William in the Corvette. We had  a fantastic drive around the Howardian Hills and then looked for somewhere to eat. Needlees to say we should have booked in advance! We tried the Abbey Inn and the Wombwell Arms, both favourites of ours, and both fully booked. We ended up by chance in Coxwold and found the Fauconberg Arms, and what a find!
Note to the Fauconberg:-
What a fabulous ‘find’; we really enjoyed our superb lunch although I must say that, no matter how good it was, it was eclipsed by the desserts!!

The home-made ice cream was a taste sensation but the sticky toffee pudding – what can I say? After The Mortal Man, in the lake district, I thought I would never find another as good – I have! Think of the fuel we can now save not driving to Windermere!

A warm welcome is extended by Simon, Helen, Harriet and Jonathan when you visit the Fauconberg Arms, a family run 17th Century North Yorkshire Inn set in the beautiful village of Coxwold on the edge of the North Yorkshire Moors National Park.

This famous Inn is named after the Earl of Fauconberg, who lived at nearby Newburgh Priory, and was married to Oliver Cromwell's daughter, Mary who, after her father's death in 1658, is believed to have brought her father's body to the Priory, and that the body is still lying there, in a bricked-up vault.
